The FBIAA was founded in 1981 in response to the growing recognition that FBI Special Agents needed to join together in order to protect and advance the interests of their profession. The Association was incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia as a non-profit corporation on September 18, 1981.
Since 1981, the FBIAA has been proud of our many accomplishments, from spearheading action on the Federal Employees Pay Comparability Act in 1990, which gave FBI Agents increased entry-level pay, locality pay, relocation bonuses, and other advantages, to advocating on behalf of Agents in 2013 to prevent draconian budget cuts that could have impacted Agents’ pay and benefits, ability to conduct investigations and perform other duties required to protect the public from criminal and terrorist threats.
FBIAA has, among our many accomplishments, successfully implemented sick leave for agents, established Memorial Scholarship and Member Assistance funds to benefit agents and their families and invalidated state source taxes for retired agents, eliminating an income tax on his or her pension if he or she decided to move to a different state.
Today, the FBIAA remains dedicated to advocating for its more than 14,000 members, both current and former Special Agents.
