FBI AGENTS ASSOCIATION: COURT SHOULD REJECT MOTION BY MURDERER OF FBI SPECIAL AGENT SAM HICKS FOR REDUCTION IN SENTENCE

August 28, 2020

Washington, DC: The FBI Agents Association (FBIAA), the professional association representing over 14,000 active and retired Special Agents, strongly opposes the motion by Christina Korbe, who murdered FBI Special Agent Sam Hicks in 2008, to be released from prison before completing her 15 year sentence for that crime.  FBIAA urges the court to reject Korbe’s motion.

Brian O’Hare, President of the FBI Agents Association (FBIAA), representing over 14,000 FBI Special Agents nationwide, issued the following statement:

“Inaction by our leaders in Washington means that our country will be at greater risk when essential FISA authorities expire on Sunday, March 15th.  It is unacceptable and dangerous that Congress and the White House have failed to come together to reauthorize provisions that have widespread bipartisan support and are essential to help protect our country from foreign terrorists and spies.

Washington, DC: The FBI Agents Association (FBIAA), representing over 14,000 FBI Special Agents nationwide, is urging Congress to reauthorize four provisions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) — roving wiretaps, business records, lone wolves, and Call Detail Records (CDR) — that provide critical tools to Agents in sensitive counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and counterproliferation investigations. The provisions are set to expire on March 15, 2020 unless reauthorized by Congress.

FBI Agents Association Statement on Bipartisan Domestic Terrorism Legislation

Statement made by FBIAA President Brian O'Hare:

“FBIAA supports the bipartisan Domestic Terrorism Penalties Act of 2019 because it would make domestic terrorism a federal crime, helping ensure that FBI Agents and prosecutors have the best tools to fight domestic terrorism.  Domestic terrorism is a threat to the American people and our democracy. Acts of violence intended to intimidate civilian populations or to influence or affect government policy should be prosecuted as domestic terrorism regardless of the ideology behind them.”

FBI Agents Association Statement on Denial of Leonard Peltier's Executive Clemency Petition

Washington, DC: FBI Agents Association (FBIAA) President Thomas O’Connor issued the following statement on the U.S. Department of Justice’s denial of the executive clemency petition by Leonard Peltier:

The FBI Agents Association agrees with the decision of the Obama Administration to deny Leonard Peltier’s petition for executive clemency. In well over a dozen appeals, twice reaching the U.S. Supreme Court, every aspect of Mr. Peltier’s trial has been reviewed in detail. Mr. Peltier has never taken responsibility for his crimes while imprisoned.
